Belleville

Place Frehel
In the cool of the morning we went to Belleville and walked up the hill through the Chinese area stopping to look at street art, to the lookout at Parc de Belleville.

The park is on the site of a gypsum quarry and quite steep. There was a good though hazy view over Paris to the hot air balloon at Parc Andre Citroën in the south west and beyond.

We walked down the hill past some old film locations, a point where water came in from the Roman aqueduct and a church where there was some fierce fighting of the 1871 Paris Commune.
