Roman ruins

There are roman ruins dotted across Vienne – a temple here, a theatre there among the medieval buildings. We walked across the river Rhône on the suspension footbridge to the roman town of St-Roman-en-Gal.

Tour des Valois

 St-Roman-en-Gal was once a large roman town sited here on an easy stretch of the river with mansions, baths, workshops and wharves along the river.  There was a large garden showing the fruits, vegetable and vines grown in roman times.
