We
left early and walked across the islands to St Michel to catch the
RER to church. The organisation of the complicated RER lines is
fascinating. One board tells whether the train is short or long and
where they stop, another board tells where on spaghetti line they
finish and the train's name. Today we caught Gota and Romi.
We
made it to church in time [after the bag check at the door] to hear
the music piece beforehand on the beautiful organ. The sermon was by
Dr Tony Campolo, a noted U.S. speaker who spoke for half an hour with
one glance at a scrap of paper in his hand. We thought he was OK
too.

As
it was the first Sunday of the month most museums are free. So, back
to St Michel to the Musée
Cluny just to the gift shop then three changes of Metro to Cité
de l'Architecture. Some of the interchanges are not close, so
it was a long walk and up stairs to go over train lines on a crowded
Sunday. We looked at the medieval and renaissance area of Cité
de l'Architecture which consisted of plaster moulds of church
doors and exceptional buildings taken in the 1800s to put in a
museum.
Thanks for the postings. It is lovely to see Paris again......
ReplyDeleteAmazing! Love the last photo. Can't believe you just casually happened to hear Tony Compolo speak.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Right place at the right time - Tony Campolo was an entertaining speaker. As the minister's wife said - we have guest accommodation with a view! Its a pretty impressive place. The sermon is available to listen to if you wish.
