Notre Dame de Paris |
To give Hilary's
knee a break we decided to go on the Batobus on the Seine. The
Batobus has eight stops and is hop on hop off. So we thought we
would just sit there and go around twice. The Seine has high levees
around the river – land built up over Roman ruins and serious winter flooding - but
the views were much better than we thought and we saw sights at a different
angle.
Well, of course we had to walk to the first point at Notre
Dame, then got off at Hรดtel
de Ville the third point to buy hats as it was so hot, then
off at Louvre the fourth point 'cos it was lunch time and we had it
in the Tuileries garden. So we only went around once!
The knee got iced.
We love being in an
apartment, but the food shopping is fairly constant. We are over
500m from the nearest supermarket and we buy bread from the
patisserie and wine is heavy!. We understand why our grandmothers
shopped often. We have discovered Picard which is a frozen food
store – everything from hot starters through mains to petits fours.
Even escargots in garlic butter ready to go!

Glad to hear the knee is holding up. It sounds absolutely marvellous. Your photos of the Tuileries Garden are making me wish June 2015. Was not so far away. Continue to have a great time
ReplyDeleteThanks Rob. We went to get baguette and it was warm. So we walked and ate bits off the end!
ReplyDeleteTrue Parisian style. I wonder what they would think of wheeled (granny) shopping carts? Easier to carry the wine.
