All
the amusements in Vienne are closed on Monday so we had to make our
own. We walked up to the Théâtre Romain and peered through the
fence. Then up to Belvédère de Pipet for a bird's eye view of the
theatre and the remainder of marble flooring. We also had a great
view of the town and the river valley. Also to be seen was the
remains of the Odeon, a building for plays and music.

Later,
keeping to the shady side as it was 32 °,
we walked to the other side of river Gère
to see some old buildings. We experienced the “steep alleys of the
medieval centre” according to the Michelin Guide. Then down steep
steps to the river. On our return we took the longer route around
the river to miss the top of the hill.
