Jean
Paul came with his other seventh cousin, Jean Louis on a ride to
Vienne [50km and return] bringing his daughter to visit a friend. The
tile Jean Paul gave Hilary last night had moss and mortar on it which
would have meant some scraping before taking it home. This morning Jean Paul pulled
another one out of the rear pannier and said this is better. So we
did a quick switch – not carrying two at 2.4kg each. Over coffee we talked of the Tour de France and Jean Louis told us of
the time he was invited to travel in the forward caravan in the Alps
for one day. One of his suppliers was a sponsor giving out samples.

We walked to the tourist office for a walking map and then into the park beside the building. We had been told of a piece of roman road there. We were again surprised at how rough the road was. We sat and watched France do Sunday - three elderly ladies on a bench talking and laughing, small children in a playground and thump, thump at the skateboard ramp nearby.

Walked
past part of the roman wall, Cathédral
St Maurice being cleaned and restored, a roman theatre, a narrow
crooked street with leaning buildings.
