a walk [mostly] downhill

We started at Pigalle metro below Montmartre to walk through the 9th arrondissement. The unforecasted drizzle was enough to put the umbrella up. Back up the hill of rue des Martyrs for coffee, then down again. Rue des Martyrs has a lot of food shops.

There are a lot of "modern" buildings with interesting faรงades.
We walked through three passages/arcades with shops of antiques - jewellery, books, stamps as we were in the auction area.

Below - an artist atelier/workshop.

We went to Auberge Nicolas Flamel for dinner. The sign says "since 1405" which is the date of the house for the poor, not the age of the restaurant.  Nicolas and his wife Pernelle lived about six blocks away.  It was a delicious meal.  They now offer a Harry Potter menu for children up to the age of ten.
