As we had a late check out we walked to the city
market. There were lots of prepared food
in different butchers. The Triperie –
tripe and offal shop had very interesting foods. We had coffee in an old market stand, two
tiny booths and two lots of stools on the outside. It was also possible to buy wine, champagne
or beer. The markets opened at 7am, so
the market people would have been up much earlier – think drinks time.

We went by tram to the station to pick up our hire care – a Peugeot,
of course. Negotiated getting out of
Grenoble. Google is not very efficient,
thank goodness for roundabouts. We also
have to get used to how the French signs work.
The signs tend to be quite close to the corner and they do not use ↑
for straight ahead, but →, so be careful not to go down the side street!
We stopped at Vizille to view the Chateau Gardens which were
stunning.

It was over the mountains through some tiny villages with
quite large churches, and one village where the street was lined with flowers
and cafes full of people eating while the cars threaded through close by.
We had a quick walk to the old town of Gap, then back for
dinner. Its always interesting to look
at a map. Yes, Gap did have a town wall,
it’s now curved streets.
Love the umbrellas. Did the game on the path have to be moved for the car?
ReplyDeleteThere were three umbrella installations. We have lots of photos. Unfortunately the Ranger told the game players to move. He then drove across the grass to tell a small child to get off a tree. We won't take our grandchildren there!
