We set the alarm and left just after 8am to go to
church. Turn left out the front door and
walk across the Seine to St Michel to catch a train. It’s a great time to cross the city, the
light is low and the freshly cleaned Conciergerie gleamed. Very few people around and we can take a few
quick photos.
The train line has multiple ends so the trains are
labelled. Look at the board and watch
for the right train to come in. Today we
caught Nick and Jill. Our station was
closed for renovation so we had to get out the one before for a slightly longer
walk. We walked out of Invalides through
the flood door and came out on the riverside ex-roadway. A lovely short walk. The American Church has a wonderful organ and
we were there early enough to hear the Vivaldi prelude. The ACParis runs a community program for
newcomers to Paris called “Bloom Where You’re Planted”. We like the idea.
Back on the riverside La Parisienne run was in full swing.

There were two orchestras. This one was the most colourful! |

We caught the train to Port-Royal to a vide-grenier [empty attic]. Hilary bought some monogrammed serviettes. Its not every day you see HN monograms.
Walked to rue du Pot de Fer for lunch, then down to the
bottom of rue Mouffetard, via artisanale glacier, to watch the Sunday dancing.

There was a 1700s gate under the spikes. |
We went for a walk in Nelson Mandela Gardens, part of the
Les Halles renovation.
There’s lots of grass
to sit on and many imaginative play spaces including a supervised kids
adventure playground, no adults allowed in.

If only Green Square station had an entrance like that! Although getting off at Museum station is some consolation. I look forward to seeing the monograms in person :-)
