A guided walk in the historical centre

The high winds forecast for yesterday came today, but fortunately, they were not as bad as forecast.

the umbrellas were dancing but not damaged
The Office du Tourism was open so we picked up a numbered map and did an historical walk of the town.

Napoleon slept here on his way from Elba to Paris

the bottom pair of windows have flyscreens

serious renovation

there is a small building marked "prison" on the other side of town

The town has the Hôtel de Ville, Palais de Justice, police station, a school, indoor swimming pool, several banks and five squares with numerous restaurants.  No wonder its busy!  outside the [not walled] town the city is large.
